Welcome to The Sick Life
About The Blog
My name is Michelle. I'm 32 years old (unfortunately I had to use a google age calculator to make sure of that lol). I have a wonderful disease called Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder. It's hereditary and my mother also has it. I live with my folks, my intellectually disabled sister, and my 5 fur babies (4 of them were rescues). I have my state license and masters degree in social work and a bachelors in justice systems. Because of my illness I can't use either one of the damn things. So here I am, a walking database of information (some useful, but mostly cartoon quotes) and no one to share it with. So I've decided to foist myself on the unsuspecting masses on the internet and see what happens.
Because of my advanced degree in being sick, I've had people, including doctors, ask for information on alternative remedies, products, yoga, and other lifestyle changes that I've done or used to deal with me and my families multitude of chronic illnesses (this includes my hounds). I decided that to help warehouse and share this knowledge gained from years of research and plain old fashioned trial and error, I would make this blog. New products, studies, and treatments are becoming available everyday and I aim to help keep you up to date on as much of this information as possible. I also intend to post accompanying videos with each article and caption each video. I want this blog and the information to be as accessible as possible to EVERYONE. If there is a product, illness, treatment, or remedies you want to know more about, just ask me. If I don't know the answer I'll find it out and let you and everyone else know.
That said, it's important for you to know that I am NOT a doctor, homeopathic doctor, nurse or any other kind of physical health professional. Instead, I am a sick social worker. So before you attempt to use any of the remedies suggested here please contact your doctor or pharmacist. You never know what herbs or food might interact with what medications. Use common sense and your best judgement before following any of the studies posted here or any of the treatments or remedies.
